A Prayer for Justice and Peace

On a day when the world chooses kings, we turn instead to Christ. This prayer and guide invite you to respond in peace, repentance, and holy resistance — wherever you are.

A Prayer for Justice and Peace

(No Kings but Christ)

Prayer

God of Peace, God of Justice,
On this day, we remember:
There is no king but Christ.
No throne higher than Yours.
No law greater than love.

We pray today not for power, but for peace.
Let no violence take root—
not in our streets, not in our speech, not in our hearts.
Guard every protest, every gathering, every voice raised for justice.
Restrain those who would cause harm, and calm the winds of rage.

Spirit of Truth, convict us.
We are a people too often enamored by division,
entertained by violence, and numbed to injustice.
We confess our complicity, our indifference, our silence.
Forgive us, Lord.

Lead us to repentance—
Not just in words, but in policies.
Not just in emotion, but in action.
Turn the hearts of this nation back to You.

We pray for the immigrant seeking safety,
the citizen seeking peace,
the civil servant seeking to do good,
and the political leader with great power and great responsibility.
Let justice guide their steps and humility guard their hearts.

And may Your Church rise—not in fear,
but in love that casts it out.
In courage that tells the truth.
In hope that will not die.

Your Kingdom come.
Your will be done—
on earth, in this land, as it is in heaven.

Amen.

How to Pray for Justice and Peace Today

(Wherever You Are)

You don’t have to hold a sign to take a stand.
Whether you are marching, working, parenting, or praying quietly, you can join the movement.

Here’s how:

1. Pray for Peace to Prevail

Ask God to restrain all violence — in the streets, in rhetoric, in policy, in hearts.

2. Pray for a Convicted Nation

Invite the Spirit to expose our addiction to outrage and our casual acceptance of injustice.

3. Pray for Repentance

Repent personally and intercede nationally. True change begins in humble confession.

4. Pray for Immigrants and Citizens Alike

Lift up the vulnerable, the overlooked, and those caught in systems of fear.

5. Pray for Leaders and Servants

Pray for elected officials, civil servants, and first responders — for wisdom, compassion, and justice.

6. Pray “Your Kingdom Come”

Let every breath, every act, every word today echo this longing for God's rule of peace.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” – Matthew 5:9
